A bit about Garage Conversions
Garage conversions are a much lower cost alternative to building an extension onto your home. If you want to extend your kitchen, create a home office or a holiday apartment for renting out, converting your garage could be the answer.
Acting as the primary contractor, we will take the plans from your architect and deliver your perfect, finished space. In addition, we have long-standing relationships with other professional tradespeople who we will bring in to carry out specialist installs, such as electrics, plumbing or fire and security systems.
When we finish, your conversion will be ready to use.
FAQs
No, not usually. As long as you’re not extending the footprint of the building and all the works are only internally, then it should fall under the Permitted Development regulations. However, there may be privacy concerns if you’re adding windows that will look onto your neighbour’s property. So we always recommend contacting your local planning office for confirmation.
There’s no legal requirement to use an architect. Still, we advise doing so as they will consider all the building regulations, structural calculations and help you get planning permission if that’s required.
Your Council Tax will remain the same.
It can add anywhere from 10-20% to the value of your house. It should also make it more attractive to a buyer if you decide to sell in the future. However, it will put buyers off who need a garage.
